UK's Largest Grocer Debuts 20 Chef-Crafted Vegan Meals
Tesco, the world's third-largest grocery chain, launched the Wicked Kitchen vegan line of grab-and-go meals such as carrot pastrami-filled wraps and barbecue pizzas at 600 locations across Britain.
Tesco, the largest grocery store in the United Kingdom, launched a chef-crafted line of plant-based meals by vegan brand Wicked Kitchen. The 20-item line includes grab-and-go meals such as the Carrot Pastrami-Spiced Wrap, which features crisp vegetables wrapped in a beet-infused tortilla; the Smashin’ Pumpkin Falafel Sandwich made with vegan harissa mayonnaise on tomato bread; and the Moroccan-Inspired Bowl, a salad with turmeric-infused bulgur, spiced beetroot, tangy pickled red cabbage, and roasted red pepper hummus. The line also includes burritos, noodle bowls, and several heat-and-eat options, including two pizzas: the Caponata Sourdough Pizza and the BBQ Mushroom Sourdough Pizza. Wicked Kitchen was created by chef brothers Chad and Derek Sarno (Whole Foods Market former senior global executive chef) with the mission to bring flavorful vegan food to retailers. “It’s been an incredible journey and an honor partnering and working with Tesco,” Derek Sarno said. “It’s the first step in creating real change. We now lead the world with the most delicious, chef-crafted, detail-oriented, affordable, innovative, and most convenient plant-based food range ever seen at a large retailer.” Starting this week, Tesco will prominently display the entire Wicked Kitchen line at 600 locations across the UK.
