A massive vegetarian-only apartment complex named the Veda Village is currently under construction in St. Petersburg, Russia. The complex aims to bring people with similar mindsets together—to accomplish this, representatives of the complex will screen potential residents based on their dietary habits. “The sales agent holds an interview with a potential buyer to find out whether he is vegetarian or not,” Veda Village manager Maya Podlipskaya told Russian news agency TASS. “If not, the client gets a refusal.” Once complete in early 2018, the village—which borrows its architectural cues from spatial arrangement technique feng shui and Hindu design schematic Vastu—will be alcohol- and tobacco-free, house 210 families and feature a vegetarian restaurant, yoga center, gym, spa, day-care facility, and an education center.
