Vegan fried chicken shop Temple of Seitan—the first of its kind in the world—has announced that it will expand to a second location in the Camden borough of London. Rebecca McGuinness opened the flagship location in the Hackney borough—next to a halal butcher shop—earlier this year and boasts a line of customers around the block daily. The original menu features seitan-based chicken dishes, including sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, chicken buckets, and Buffalo wings. To further compete with traditional chicken chains, the Temple of Seitan recently launched its vegan take on KFC’s Double Down—a sandwich with dairy-free cheese and meatless bacon that features two crispy seitan pieces that serve the purpose of a bun. The new Camden shop was inspired by the eatery’s massive success and is slated to open in 2018—complete with indoor seating to accommodate the crowds it expects will visit.
