Orange is the New Black Star Laverne Cox Goes Vegan

The actress/LGBTQ activist joins fellow cast members Danielle Brooks and Ruby Rose in adopting a plant-based diet.

Actress Laverne Cox—known for her role as prison hairstylist Sophia Burset on hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black (OINTB)—recently revealed that she has been vegan for several months. The actress/transgender activist posted a video clip to her Instagram account last week featuring fellow OINTB cast member Ruby Rose. “I just have to say that we’re both vegan,” Cox said. Rose revealed that she has been vegan for a couple of years, while Cox admitted that she is newly vegan. “How’s it going for you” Cox asked Rose, who responded, “It’s the best thing ever.” Actress Danielle Brooks—who plays “Taystee” on the program—revealed that she adopted a plant-based diet in August and shared her recipe for vegan macaroni and cheese during a recent appearance on ABC’s daytime cooking show The Chew.
