A recent feature in media outlet Metro UK ranked the 13 best vegan foods to try this Christmas. “But as 2017 has pretty much been the year of the vegan,” writer Sareta Puri said, “we should expect less slicing of turkeys and more carving of roasted butternut squash.” Puri’s list of best Christmas foods ranks Linda McCartney’s (vegan) Vegetarian Chorizo Cocktail Sausages at No. 13, followed by Artisan Grains’ Mediterranean Sundried Tomato Nut Roast, and VBites’ Meat-Free Turkey Roast. The middle of the list is populated by several varieties of vegan roasts made by the aforementioned companies, and ranks Tofurky’s Veggie Roast at No. 5. The top three spots went to VBites’ Meat-Free Mini Pork Sausages, Fry’s Soy & Quinoa Country Roast, and Linda McCartney’s Vegetarian Beef Wellington Bites—a savory snack wrapped in phyllo dough that Puri said is “a real game-changer.” The United Kingdom has experienced a surge of vegans in the previous decade, and food retailers (such as supermarkets Sainsbury’s, Asda, and Tesco) have responded with new vegan offerings such as vegan cheese platters, meatless holiday roasts, and vegan desserts.
