Laverne Cox Debuts Vegan Glitter Nail Polish Line

The vegan actress/activist is behind a new sparkly nail collection by Orly that she hopes will help beauty-lovers to celebrate themselves.

Vegan actress/LGBTQ+ activist Laverne Cox—known for her role as transgender prison hairstylist Sophia Burset on hit series Orange is the New Black (OITNB)—recently debuted a vegan nail polish line in collaboration with beauty brand Orly. The Celebrate Yourself by Laverne Cox line features six glitter-enhanced hues such as luminescent black Androgynie, bronze Million Dollar Views, and ultra-sparkle Halo. “I started #TransIsBeautiful on social media to empower trans people to embrace the things that make them beautifully trans,” Cox told InStyle. “For me, it’s my deep voice and big hands. It’s an ongoing process. Getting my nails done is part of practicing self-love.” The actress explained that painting her mother’s nails as a child was a bonding activity, and that her favorite red carpet look is sparkly polish. In October, Cox revealed in a video clip with fellow vegan OITNB star Ruby Rose that she had been vegan for several months. The polish set is available for a holiday sale price of $41 and comes with Orly Top 2 Bottom basecoat and a limited edition clutch.
