This week, VegNews publisher Colleen Holland was named one of 2018’s Top Women in Media by publishing-industry outlet Folio. Holland was chosen to join an elite group of female entrepreneurs nationwide to receive the honor in a category that Folio describes as “women who’ve launched or rebuilt brands or companies and continue to work tirelessly toward their success.” Holland co-founded VegNews in 2000 and has grown the company into the world’s largest vegan media brand, now reaching more than 2.5 million people each month through its print and digital platforms. “There’s nothing I love more than sharing the plant-based lifestyle with the world,” Holland said. “Our team works tirelessly to produce the best vegan content on the planet, and this recognition reflects the incredible work done by many passionate and talented individuals with whom I have the honor of working every day.” In its 18-year history, VegNews has won nearly every major magazine industry award under Holland’s leadership, including Best Lifestyle Magazine, Best Website, Best Social Media, and Niche Magazine of the Decade. “This is what I was meant to do in life,” Holland said, “and I savor every moment of it.” This year’s honorees—which include Martha Stewart, who will receive Folio’s Lifetime Achievement and Empowerment Award—will be honored during a ceremony on June 7 in New York City.
