UK's Largest Natural Grocer to Open Massive Vegan Outlet

Holland & Barrett plans to add 500 more vegan product lines to its first-ever, all-vegan store.

Natural grocery chain Holland & Barrett, the largest of its kind in the United Kingdom, recently announced plans to open an all-vegan outlet. The brand, which stocks vegan offerings in its 800 stores, is currently seeking to add up to 500 new vegan product lines in categories such as chilled and frozen, snacks, sports nutrition, and beverages. “We’ve long been committed to a plant-based lifestyle even offering members of The Vegan Society a discount in-store,” Holland & Barrett's director of product development Emma Cockerill told Nutraingredients. "And with the growing amount of vegans in the UK comes the need for an expanded range of great products for them to choose from." While Holland & Barrett has not yet announced the opening date for its all-vegan outlet, Cockerill revealed that the chain is actively seeking innovative vegan brand partners. “We know from our suppliers that vegan foods taste better than ever and are available in many more categories than just the chiller,” Cockerill said. “Which is why we are open to working with brands of all sizes, from full distribution to online only, or listings in our bigger H&B More Stores." Grocery chains such as Tesco, and Sainsbury’s continue to add vegan products to their stores to serve the more than 3.5 million Brits who now identify as vegan.
