Bones actress Emily Deschanel was honored on December 8, 2010 by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) with the Humane Advocate Award, for her animal-advocacy efforts, such as speaking out against dog-fighting, factory farms, and her support of Prop. 2 in California. Beverly Kaskey and Michael Markarian of HSUS presented Deschanel with the award. “Not only is she willing to actively speak out about the issues, but she has helped spotlight them in various episodes of Bones, thereby delivering an animal protection message to a huge primetime audience,” Kaskey said of Deschanel.
