Getting your day started off right is as easy as tossing a couple key ingredients into your blender. With each of these nutrient-dense smoothies, you'll be doing yourself a nutritional favor, but your taste buds will be none the wiser. With simple components, you can drastically change the flavor of your smoothies every day, and avoid the dreaded strawberry-banana rut. From decadent cacao to the sneaky addition of kale, these smoothies are sure to surprise and delight you.
Serves 1
Brazilian Chocolate Shake
What You Need:
  • 1/4 cup Brazil nuts
  • 2 Medjool dates, pitted, or 1 tablespoon agave nectar
  • 1 tablespoon raw cacao nibs or powder
  • 1 cup filtered water
What You Do:
In a blender, combine all ingredients until smooth.
Vanilla Praline Shake
What You Need:
  • 1/2 cup pecans
  • 5 Medjool dates, pitted
  • Seeds from 1 vanilla bean or 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups filtered water (or rice or soymilk)
  • 1/2 cup ice
What You Do:
In a blender, combine all ingredients until smooth.
Slimming Smoothie
What You Need:
  • 1 large leaf of kale, de-stemmed and roughly chopped
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 cup filtered water (or rice- or soymilk)
  • 1 tablespoon spirulina
