Meat-free athletes are becoming a force to be reckoned with in the sports arena, and this year’s Winter Olympic games are no exception. Meagan Duhamel, a figure skater from Canada who refers to herself as an “Olympian, Vegan, Yogi and Nutritionist” on her Twitter profile, recently won the silver medal in the team figure skating event. Duhamel and her partner Eric Radford received a 73.10 score from the judges, which put them in second place, giving the Canadian team nine points in the overall competition. The Olympics has a long-standing tradition of cruelty-free competitors; some high profile veg athletes from past games include track and field star Carl Lewis, wrestler Chris Campbell, and skier Bode Miller.
