In a letter to Costco CEO W. Craig Jelinek, actor/producer Brad Pitt pleaded that the company make good on its decade-long promise to “stop selling eggs from hens confined to tiny cages.” Pitt states, “In these cruel cages, the animals’ muscles atrophy from years of immobilization” and points out that cages are illegal in California and most of Europe. To strengthen his argument, Pitt cites companies that have made progress toward going cage-free such as Burger King, Unilever, and Whole Foods. Pitt wrote the letter on behalf of Farm Sanctuary and joins entertainers Ryan Gosling and Bill Maher asking Costco to follow through on its promise.
