This week, general interest website Upworthy raved about new fast-food restaurant Amy’s Drive Thru and explained how people couldn’t get enough of the vegan-friendly fare. Calling the business a “ridiculous success,” writer Jenni Whalen says the “double veggie burger might convert me to vegetarianism.” Whalen also points out that the restaurant served more than 500 people—who waited for more than an hour in line—on its opening day. With demand growing beyond expectations, fair wages for employees, and prices comparable to its fast-food counterparts (burgers are just $2.99), Amy’s aims to reinvent fast food by offering vegetarian burgers, pizza, mac ‘n’ cheese, chili fries, and milkshakes, all customizable to be vegan and/or gluten free.
