People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) recently announced its winners of the 2015 Sexiest Vegans Over 50. Representing “sexy qualities” such as compassion, altruism, fitness, and enthusiasm, female winner Linda Middlesworth—a 27-year vegan—is involved with organizations such as Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine, PETA, and her own business, VeganMentor, and participates at protests and distributing vegan literature and starter kits. Similarly, male winner Roger Ewing is a dedicated supporter of the California Wildlife Center, which rescues indigenous animals on the coast and in the Santa Monica Mountains. The 67-year-old also lives with six rescue animals and raised thousands of dollars to help a shelter dog who was hit by a car. Both winners are extremely active and health-conscious—Middlesworth is a part-time aerobics instructor and Erwin runs approximately 10 miles a week. “We were delighted to see entries from so many inspiring vegans around the country and look forward to seeing even more of you in 2016,” PETA said.
