Food and drink publication Food & Wine recently profiled seven vegan products that won a “massive staff taste test,” lauding the vegan movement’s benefits and staying power. First on the list was Made by Lukas’ Fresh Veggie Burgers, featuring ready-to-shape ground and seasoned assorted vegetables including beets, kale, and parsnips mixed with quinoa, seeds, and millet. Daiya’s Cheezy Mac was applauded for being “surprisingly creamy and satisfying” and Miyoko’s Creamery’s Aged English Smoked Farmhouse cashew cheese was heralded, as was Ben & Jerry’s new line of almond milk-based ice creams. Lesser-known Portland, OR company Tofuna Fysh got a nod thanks to its Fysh Sauce, an all-purpose seasoning sauce for Asian cuisine made from jackfruit and seaweed. Hampton Creek’s crispy, chewy Just Cookies had taste testers astir, while Los Angeles chef/Crossroads Kitchen owner Tal Ronnen rounded out the list with his line of “phenomenal” almond milk Kite Hill yogurt.
