Following the closing of local New York favorite Champs Vegan Bakery and Luncheonette last summer, two bakers from the shuttered eatery have revived their plant-based recipes with the opening of a new vegan bakery in the same space. The new enterprise—called Brooklyn Whiskers—features dozens of baked goods including breakfast scramble croissants, oatmeal peanut butter cream pie cookies, Mexican chocolate cheesecakes, blondie bites, zucchini bread, sugar cookie pizza tarts, and various take-home frostings. Previously, head bakers Preesa Adeline Bullington and K crafted their pastries for wholesale availability at area cafés and for distribution at local farmers’ markets and pop-up shops, but now fans can walk up to their small outpost in in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn to get their hands on fresh-baked goods.
