Health and wellness blog The Kale Whale has launched the first-ever Charleston Veggie Crawl, a new weekly event aimed to highlight vegan dishes and plant-based eating in the up-and-coming veg-friendly Charleston, SC. Led by friends Erin Whalen and Schanen Smith, the walking tour is billed as being “like a pub crawl, but with veggies,” taking veg-curious visitors and locals to plant-based hot spots around the city to sample portions of the local vegan fare, including bahn mi, lettuce-wrapped black bean burgers, and carrot “not dogs”—braised farm carrots topped with smoked mushroom chili and microgreens on a New England roll. “Our goal is for you to finish the tour with a full belly, possibly a slight buzz, and a reverence for the power of veggies,” Smith and Whalen said, “not only for our health but for the future of the planet!” The first event will be held May 14, with tickets available for purchase now.
