Popular veg-friendly New Orleans, LA café and bakery Breads On Oak will be featured on the nationally syndicated show Flip My Food today, showcasing the establishment’s ability to “flip” traditional grilled cheese sandwiches—using Old World sourdough bread—into vegan versions. According to co-owners Sean and Chamain O’Mahony, Breads On Oak is the only bakery known to make organic, vegan French and New Orleans pastries, including croissants, pain au chocolat, frittatas, napoleons, and king cakes. “We not only do it for vegans, but also to introduce others to vegan foods,” Chamain O’Mahony told VegNews. “Our customers just prefer the vegan versions. The pastries are moister, the sandwiches and quiches are healthier and tastier, and quite simply—the fresh flavors really come through when not covered up by dairy or egg ingredients.” Viewers can find out where to see the episode here.
