Vegan Comfort Food Diner Opens in DC

Fare Well, a new plant-based comfort food restaurant owned by Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats owner Doron Petersan, opened in Washington, DC last week. The eatery’s entirely plant-based menu features Italian, Greek, and Eastern European dishes such as knishes, moussaka, pierogi, and truffled pot pie. “The goal is to show everyone that this is accessible, delicious, and that great food can be made when you’re focusing only on vegetables, just as you can when you’re also focusing on meat-based products,” Petersan said. Breakfast includes comfort-food classics such as Seitan & Waffles, Pancakes Napolean, and a Western Omelet, while housemade pastas, milkshakes, and desserts will be plentiful. The all-day diner also boasts an extensive bar program featuring selections such as a tequila-lime-grapefruit-tarragon Paloma and the Queen of H Street, made with vodka, raspberry purée, thyme, lemon, white tea, simple syrup, and egg white substitute.
