VegNews is currently accepting applications for the following internship positions:
Editorial Assistant
General Publishing Assistant
Marketing & Public Relations Assistant
Want to learn about the publishing industry? Hope to work for a socially conscious, vegetarian-owned business? VegNews Magazine is seeking interns in all areas of production at our San Francisco headquarters. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the industry alongside experienced writers, editors and media professionals who love what they do.
We expect hard work, enthusiasm, great ideas and an interest in promoting vegetarianism from our interns. Although internships are unpaid, we offer a host of benefits to ensure a fulfilling experience. This includes housing (for editorial and design internships only), daily vegetarian lunch, product sampling, complimentary event tickets, all-you-can eat vegan cookies, a wonderful work environment (one block from the ocean in one of the most veg-friendly cities in America), advancement opportunities, course credit and more. Most importantly, however, is the experience gained from working with a professional team to produce an award-winning national magazine.
Editorial Assistant (full-time)
Interested in becoming a writer or editor? This is the place to gain invaluable experience. Interns will read and pitch stories, field inquiries, participate in editorial meetings, research story ideas, copy edit, fact check, and have an opportunity to write for the magazine. Interns will also participate in general publishing duties. Please include writing samples along with your cover letter and resume. Internships are full-time and include housing.
General Publishing (part-time/full-time)
Are you someone who just wants to help in any way you can? There are always interesting projects and tasks that need completion by someone who's detail-oriented, organized and enthusiastic. This might include database entry, general editorial and art assistance, research, order fulfillment and more. Internship length is a minimum of six months at approximately 15-35 hours per week.
Marketing & Public Relations (part-time)
Do you have marketing savvy and want to put your skills to good use? This could be the job for you. Assist us in promoting the magazine and generating the exposure we desire for the vegetarian message. Candidate will help to plan and execute a promotional campaign, update our PR database, assist with PR phone calls and more. Familiarity with Filemaker Pro a plus. A minimum commitment of two full days is required each week. Please include writing samples along with your cover letter and resume.
