E arth Day 2007
Even if we think planet earth deserves to be honored every day, the official Earth Day celebration falls on April 22 in 2007. To remind folks that going veg is the best way to save the planet, vegetarian societies across the country are hosting fun events: veg festivals, luncheons, parades and street fairs. Check with your local veg group to join the festivities and spread the word.
In San Francisco, the Sustainable Living Roadshow makes a stop in famous Golden Gate Park, and features a Green Marketplace, Renewable Energy Showcase, bio-fuel demonstrations and more. Throw in some jugglers, dancers, hula-hoopers and eco-carnival games, and it's fun for the whole family!

Swap-O-Rama-Rama
The world's largest clothing swap, the Swap-O-Rama-Rama , is back in New York City on April 22 for an Earth Day wingding. This year's event features do-it-yourself workshops which explore ways to creatively reuse and recycle used clothing. We're especially excited about the sewing stations operated by local designers showing us how to modify used clothing, and the on-site silkscreening demos, too.
Fashion Forward
Speaking of fashion, the VegNews editorial team is stitching together our first annual Fashion Issue for the September+October edition. Who are your favorite enlightened designers? What cruelty-free clothing lines do you wear? We want to know! Email Senior Editor Jennifer Pickens with the sartorial scoop. Your treasured threads may appear in the pages of VegNews!

Product Review: Chomp! Cookies
If you read the ingredients list before biting, you won't believe that these king-size cookies could taste as good as they do. Thankfully, Chomp! cookies have all the flavor of a comparable junk-filled version, but without all those bad-for-you additives. Our favorite, Blitzin' Almond Butter, boasts a surprisingly buttery flavor without even a hint of dairy. All six Chomp! varieties are vegan, wheat-free, and contain a minimum of 60 percent organic ingredients. Warning: These may be habit forming!

Pr oduct Review: Pharmacopia Herbal Lip Elixir
Pharmacopia Chamomile Tangerine Herbal Lip Elixir tastes good enough to eat, although we wouldn't recommend it. Instead, glide this soothing lip treat, made with organic oils, on your chapped lips and prepare for instant relief with a hint of fruit. The tube is almost twice the size of typical lip balms, making it longer-lasting and much easier to find when buried at the bottom of your backpack. Plus, its cruelty-free and 100-percent vegan.

Favorite Vegan Wedding Contest Winner
In our March VegNewsletter, we asked you to choose your favorite couple from our 2007 Vegan Wedding feature in the March+April issue, and to tell us why you selected them for a chance to win a fabulous wedding gift box. It was a tough decision, but weve selected the lovely sentiments of reader Betty Holladay as our winning entry. Betty will receive her gift box compliments of Pangea Vegan Store. Here's her response:
Favorite vegan weddingLin Bernhardt and Lynn Hill.
"Just look at the photo. This is not young love, but one that is wise, serene and joyful. The unique ceremony in gorgeous surroundings, along with charity-donation gifts, brought substantive meaning to this union. This couple has dedicated themselves to each other and to a lifestyle in a way that is nurturing and caring. What better way to summarize and cement a relationship!"

VegNewsletter "Passion for Peanut Butter" Giveaway
In the current edition of VegNews, staff writer Robin Robertson shares her passion for peanut butter in a salivating food feature on all things pb. Anyone who has come under the spell of a spicy peanut sauce or a luxurious peanut soup understands why peanut butter deserves a higher calling. We don't know about you, but we can't get enough of Robin's Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake (one of the featured recipes).
