High-Protein and Weight Gain

New study links high-protein diets to weight gain.
By Brooke Still
A new European study released in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has linked high-protein diets to weight gain. The study was comprised of 400,000 adults from 10 different European countries, and monitored their weight for the course of five years. The researchers found that in both men and women, meat consumption, especially of processed meat such as sausage or ham, was linked to weight gain. This is yet more evidence that high-protein, low-carb diets do not promote weight-loss.
