Instagrammer Vegan Womble recently discovered that plain ring doughnuts sold at IKEA in the United Kingdom are vegan-friendly—and the chocolate variety are not. “Did you know IKEA UK doughnuts are safe for vegans?” Vegan Womble posted. “There are lots of accidentally vegan foodie bits in-store too.” News of the vegan-friendly doughnut joins a number of recent plant-based developments announced by the international furniture retailer. Earlier this month, IKEA revealed its plans to launch vegan soft-serve, which it described as “100 percent plant-based; 100 percent delicious,” inside IKEA’s in-store bistro locations this summer. IKEA also debuted a vegan hot dog—which it first tested at a single location in Sweden—at this year’s Boston Calling Festival and plans to add the vegan meal option to its United States locations this fall.
