Dippy Vegan Egg Yolk

Whether you’re dipping toast soldiers, drizzling it over a savory breakfast, or adding a dollop of indulgence to your favorite dishes, this vegan egg yolk from the Craving Vegan cookbook promises to elevate your culinary experience.

What you need:

1 cup water
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons canola oil 
2 teaspoons nutritional yeast
¾ teaspoon black salt 
¼ teaspoon turmeric
4 slices bread, toasted
Vegan butter, for serving 
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper

What you do:

1. In a small pot, whisk water and cornstarch. Whisk in oil, nutritional yeast, black salt, and turmeric and set over medium-high heat, whisking while cooking.
2. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, until sauce thickens to an egg-yolk consistency. Serve hot with buttered toast sprinkled with salt and pepper.
